7 Tips on How to Relax Your Eyes at the Computer

Thank goodness our modern day computer screens (LCD, LED types) are way better and definitely easier on the eyes than the old big green CRT monitors that could literally burn your eyes. Well, at least that was what it felt like back then. However, you can still accumulate unnecessary eye strains if you’re not mindful of how you’re using your eyes while at the computer.

Many of us spend hours daily on the computer and our eyes are glued to them, causing undue stress plus adding tension to our bodies, especially the neck, shoulders and back. Dare You To Move

To complement my previous posts on personal power, I want to add the video of an inspirational song which is one of my all-time favorite from Switchfoot. The song is titled Dare You To Move.

The song talks about choosing your response when you fall down, to pick yourself up and move on as though nothing has happened. It’s the tension between who you are, and who you want to be.

Switchfoot, which is one of my all-time favorite bands, has many great songs and Dare You To Move is one of their best ever. This song was also featured in Mandy Moore’s film A Walk To Remember, at one of its moving moments.

I’ll let the words of the song speak for itself. I hope this song has an impact on you as it has had on me. Feed your mind and enjoy the music video!

Improve Your Self-Image by Improving Your Self-Talk

“The only difference between the best performance and the worst performance is the variation in our self-talk.” ~ Dorothy and Bette Harris

Suppose we could plug a set of headphones that are able to capture the thoughts of the people around us and listen to their inner conversations with themselves, what would we hear?

Suppose we could record our own inner voices that run throughout the day, and play them aloud at the end of each day, will we be shocked by what we would hear?

We carry conversations with ourselves all the time. If we can measure every statement that we make to ourselves, how many negative ones will we catch? Here are some typical inner dialog examples:

“I hate the alarm clock. I dread getting up and going to work”.

“Shucks! I’m running late again”.

“Not another bad hair day”.

“I think Sue and Jane are talking behind my back again”.

“I’m just not good at time management.”

“I’m not productive at all this week”.

“I’m too tired for my gym workout today. I’ll do it tomorrow”.

“This is the third time I’ve made the same mistake. Stupid me”.

“I feel so unloved”.

“I feel nervous about the presentation. I hope nobody will notice my shaking hands”.

“Why can’t I attract more success and money?”

“I just lack self-confidence. I can’t win this.”
