Choosing The Path of Personal Power (Part 4) – “Who You Choose To be?”

I watched Kung Fu Panda 2 earlier this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. In the midst fun-filled, fast-paced action animation, there are heart-warming lessons to inspire both children and adults alike too.

At the start of Kung Fu Panda 2, Po was living his dream of fighting alongside the famous Furious Five, legendary kung fu masters. As the The Dragon Warrior, Po was protecting the Valley of Peace daily against the bad guys. But Po’s new life of awesomeness was threatened by the emergence of a new formidable villain, who planned to use a secret, unstoppable weapon to conquer China and destroy kung fu forever. Po must look to his past and uncover the secrets of his mysterious origins; only then would he be able to unlock the strength he needs to succeed. Ultimately, Po had to deal with his self-identity, and the person who he’d choose to be.

Do You Often Wonder What Others Think Of You?

Quite some time ago, I posted this quote on my Facebook status which got many of my friends talking and commenting:

“When you’re 18, you worry what others think about you. When you’re 40, you don’t give a darn what others think about you. When you’re 60, you realize that nobody has been thinking about you at all”. ~ Daniel Amen

I learned of this 18/40/60 rule from one of Jack Canfield’s audio programs. It brought a few chuckles just by thinking about the quote, but hey, it’s probably true! Do you realize how many times you’ve wasted precious time thinking about the opinions of our parents, partners, friends and colleagues when surprise, surprise, they’ve also been busy thinking about what you think of them all these while!

Oh, really??

Unexpected Problems = Unscheduled Practice

We all face adversities in life we do not expect, “accidents” that throw us off our track. We can choose to view them as obstacles that prevent us from getting what we want or we can choose to ‘reframe’ and view them quite differently.

In the film Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne deliberately got himself thrown into a prison to fight criminals behind locked doors. There were many quotable lines in the film, but there’s one part I really liked that inspired me immensely.

Do You Have Someone to Give You “The Push”?

I came across this inspiring video sometime last year which moved me. It’s based on the book Even Eagles Need A Push by David McNally. I was reading into the role of coaching when I found this.

Feed your mind with this video and enjoy the lesson.

Saving The World? Save Yourself First!

I used to say, “If you will take care of me, I will take care of you.” Now I say, “I will take care of me for you, if you will take care of you for me”. ~ Jim Rohn

Whenever the flight attendants brief the onflight safety procedures, the first thing they’d say is to first put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping the people you’re sitting with. It doesn’t matter if the person next to you is your suffocating spouse or child, you’ve gotta take the oxygen mask for yourself first. It doesn’t matter whether you’re on the air, land or underwater, you must always take care of yourself first.

Save yourself first

You're not a superhero, you need oxygen.
